Thank you to the author, @macmillan.audio , and @NetGalley for the gifted ALC. All opinions are my own.
What a complex story of love and generational trauma! I found it heartbreaking how much pain each woman in the family suffered. Each was determined not to be like their predecessors yet still ended up hurting future generations in different ways.
This book is full of incredible quotes! I can't wait for the final copy to be released. My heart warmed immensely at the mention of the dellawisps from Other Birds!
Marin Ireland was an excellent choice of narrator and kept me fully engrossed in this book, which I finished in a single day.
I found the conclusion satisfying and was happy that everyone found a way to be honest: with themselves and with each other. Sarah Addison Allen's writing is evocative, emotional, and full of Southern Gothic vibes with the threads of magical realism that I am so drawn to.
Paper Ghosts is a great choice to read or listen to as we welcome fall!
